Attractions and Services
Recreation
Community Centre:
Built in 1993, this beautiful facility is a great place for events of all sizes.  The gym area is suitable for large meetings and has a stage for performances at one end, a large kitchen located near the back of the building, and a separate meeting room for smaller gatherings is also available.  Community Club (below) caters to all functions.

Prairie Rose Bowl:
Our bowling alley is attached to the community center, making it a perfect option for holding any social event.  It is a 4 lane bowling alley, with automatic scoring.  In addition to bowling, there is also snooker, darts, and shuffleboard.

C.M. Buckaway Library:
In honour of a local poet / author, the Parkland Regional Library in town was re-named in 2005 to the C.M. Buckaway Library.  It is open two nights a week and has two public computers with access to high-speed internet, a new scanner, and a TV/VCR.  There is a wide selection of books – from easy to large print and everything in between.  If something cannot be found here, it can be ordered through the inter-library loan service.

Kinsmen Camping Grounds:
In 2005, for the Centennial Celebrations, the Jansen and District Kinsmen Club developed 6 electrified campsites.  Water is located closely to the campsites as well.  These sites are located to the south of the Community Center, in the perfect location to those attending events in the Community Center.

Annual Events
Poker Derby:
There are two snowmobile rallies in the area.  One is held by the Jansen and District Kinsmen (with the help of the Kinettes), and the other by the Haliburton Community Club.  These snowmobile rallies are annual events for snowmobilers and non-riders alike.  Lots of prizes are to be won, and money raised goes to Telemiracle and local community projects.  The snowmobile rallies are held in February.

The Famous Kabbage Kup:
Formerly an annual hockey tournament put on by the Jansen and District Kinsmen, this annual event is held in February and now takes the format of a mini-olympics.  This event is well-attended by surrounding Kinsmen clubs coming to take part of the sports consisting of bowling, shuffle board, cards, darts, snooker and beer-drinking.

R.M. of Prairie Rose Annual Rate Payers Supper Meeting:
Held in March, this supper meeting is a gathering of the ratepayers of the municipality.  Supper is catered by the community club, a guest speaker is present, and the evening wraps up with entertainment.

Quill Lake Credit Union Jansen-Esk Branch:
Also held in March, this supper meeting is a gathering of the credit union clients.  Supper is catered by the community club.

Dinner Theatre:
Local residents get together once every two years to put on a performance worthy of Oscars.  Guests gather for a delicious meal catered by the Community Clubs, and are always delighted by the show following.

Cabbage Roll / Perogie Supper:
This meal is held in early April and is put on by the Lutheran Ladies Group.

Canada Day Celebrations:
Held on July 1st of every year, our town boasts one of the best fireworks in Saskatchewan on this day.  The event consists of rides for children and a wiener roast, and of course the spectacular display of fireworks.

Fall Supper:
Held in the fall and put on by the Community Club.  It is a time for the community to get together after harvest and have a terrific meal, and a nice visit with friends and neighbors.
